Solar panels 100 watts or more

This section lists most of the available solar electric panels 100 watts and higher. Solar panels come in many sizes, up to 300 watts and higher. Smaller panels are easier to handle and usually cheaper to ship, while larger panels might be cheaper to wire up and install.

** Note - very few solar panels over 135 watts are available in 12 volt versions (the one exception are the new Evergreen ESA panels). Most are intended for grid-tie applications with voltages not suitable for battery charging except when using an MPPT charge controller such as the Outback Power, the Xantrex XW-SCC, or (some of) the Blue Sky Energy controllers.

** Note on connecting - Most new larger panels have changed to the MC4 latching cable connectors to meet UL/NEC standards. We expect that within a few months there will not be any panels over 135 watts or so available with junction boxes or the older MC3 cables - only MC4 cables.

**(PANELS WITH LATCHING CABLE CONNECTIONS ONLY) For more than 1 panel on a 12 Volt system you will probably need a latching MC extension cable (MC4) and branch connectors (PV-AZB4 and PV-AZS4) for parallel connections.
