Welcome to the Northern Arizona Wind & Sun Solar Electric Store

Northern Arizona Wind & Sun is one of the pioneer solar power companies, and has been in the solar electric business since 1979. We stock a complete range of solar panels, inverters, deep cycle batteries, and hundreds of other DC power and solar power related products.

** 2009 is our 30th anniversary - 1979 to 2009. ** -- There is no Arizona state sales tax on solar panels or solar electric systems (local taxes may still apply). -- Think those "other" solar panels are cheaper? Check what they charge for shipping before you decide for sure -- Shipping Costs: To see a shipping quote, put the items in your cart, go to first Checkout page, and enter your ZIP code.

Iota High Power 12 Volt DC Fluorescent Ballast
5.5" x 1.5" x 2"

Iota has been involved with the production of low voltage high frequency (Electronic) ballasts for fluorescent lamps since 1968. Iota DC Ballasts are one of the most efficient and dependable ballasts available anywhere, and have been designed to operate a wide range of fluorescent lamps for a number of different input voltages.

These are mainly intended to convert existing 115 volt fixtures to 12 volts DC, but we also sell quite a few to people making up their own green fishing lights. These are larger than the Thin-Lite ballasts and may not fit in smaller fixtures.

Reliable Starts - wide operating voltages assure consistent performance. Inherent circuit protection to insure low RFI - conductive and inductive. High frequency switching eliminates lamp flicker.

All ballasts are designed to operate within a range of voltages chosen to reflect real operating conditions. For instance, a nominally rated 12 volt ballast will operate over a range of 10.5 to 14 volts since this is typical of a 12 volt storage battery during charge and discharge cycles. Operation of the ballasts on higher than rated voltages will result in ballast overheating and shortened lamp life. Under-voltage operation will cause poor lamp starting and excessive blackening at the ends of the lamp. All ballasts contain reverse polarity protection in the event the ballast is connected to the DC source backwards. All of these units may be used in positive and negative ground distribution systems, since the ballast is electrically neutral.

24 & 48 volt available on special order. See the link below for the Iota ballast selector tool.
