Digital MPPT Solar Charge Controller 60 Amp
Why do we call MPPT charge controllers the "world's best" type? Well, because it is. MPPT controllers are the only solar charge controllers around that can match up almost any conglomeration of solar panels up with almost any size and type of battery system.
The Outback MX60 is what we have been using in many of our own larger installations. The MX60 is one of the few charge controllers around that can match up the higher (and often odd) voltage panels made for grid-tie applications to battery charging applications, since it can take up to 140 volts DC on the input and match it down (at 96%+ efficiency) to almost any standard battery voltage up to 60 volts.
The OutBack MX60 Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) charge controller enables your PV system to achieve its highest possible performance.
Rated for up to 60 amps of DC output current, the OutBack MX60 can be used with battery systems from 12 to 60 vdc with PV open circuit voltage as high as 140 open circuit vdc (up to 6 12-volt panels in series). The MX60's setpoints are fully adjustable to allow use with virtually any battery type, chemistry and charging profile.
A note on the input voltage ratings: The ETL rating is for 120 volts maximum open-circuit voltage. Since the ETL rating was done, over a year ago, the MX60 has been upgraded, and is now rated by the manufacturer for 140 volts DC maximum input. Eventually the ETL rating will be updated.
The OutBack MX60 allows you to use a higher output voltage PV array with a lower voltage battery - such as charging a 24-volt battery with a 60-volt PV array. This reduces wire size and power loss from the PV array to the battery/inverter location and can maximize the performance of your PV system. The OutBack MX60 comes standard with an easy to use and understand display of the PV system’s performance. The four line, 80 character, backlit
LCD display is also used for programming and monitoring of the system’s operation.
The OutBack MX60 can also be connected to the OutBack MATE system controller and display to allow monitoring of up to eight MX60 controllers from a distant location - up to 300 feet away. The MATE also includes an optoisolated RS232 port for connection to a PC computer for data logging and system monitoring.
Wind Generators: The MX60 and MX80, and none of the other MPPT controllers are recommended for wind generators.
